Alliance Française to join “Christmas Around the World” celebration

As part of its “Free Second Sunday” series, the UTSA Institute of Texan Cultures provides a variety of festive activities and charitable efforts on behalf of the Alliance Française de San Antonio and other local organizations.

On Sunday, December 10th, international students participating in the AYUSA Global Exchange program will have displays depicting major winter holidays in their home countries.

Students will be dressed in their native attire as they discuss holiday traditions, life in their home countries and their experiences here in the United States.

The Alliance Française de San Antonio will have a booth where students will share the experience of Christmas in France.

Our Lady of Guadalupe Church will perform a traditional Pastorela play, a morality tale about shepherds going to visit the Holy Family in Bethlehem and the snares the Devil uses in attempts to dissuade them.

The San Antonio Children’s Ballet will also have two performances, with suites from their recent rendition of The Nutcracker.

The San Antonio Food Bank will be accepting non-perishable food items to assist in this increased time of need.

The first 100 guests will receive cookbooks from the San Antonio Foodbank.

The institute will also accept blankets for Communities in Schools SA.
